GF 2021 opens registration on 15 September
The 2021 edition of the Colourful Yunnan Granfondo Cycling Festival will return to our beloved multistage format with four cities approved and confirmed from 1 to 6 November 2021. As the covid-19 pandemic is still not over, additional safety measures and conditions of entry must be adhered to to ensure the event can take place in an appropriate manner. Details are being updated on our dedicated WeChat channel (Nordic Ways) and this website, and registration for the event opens on Wednesday, 15 September at 15:00 Beijing Time.
The 8th edition of our event will see Chengjiang in Yuxi as ‘le grand depart’ with a 128 km long rollercoaster north of Fuxian Lake. For the second stage we return to Chuxiong and Mount Zixin for the first time since 2017. The two final stages are the classics in Dali (The Lake Ride) and Lijiang (The Sky Ride).
Due to recent issues with covid in southwestern Yunnan, we need to avoid the area this year. However, we are delighted to be able to offer this four-stage programme with a freshly designed and tough Yuxi stage and three ethnic minority-filled stages that provide some of the very best cycling scenery the province has to offer.
Again, due to the ongoing pandemic, we can only allow 500 registrations for this edition and there will be only a long distance category. No short distance can be offered this year. For competitive-minded participants, apart from the usual general classification, there will be a new KOM or King of the Mountain challenge.
