Stage 2: Bilguu outsprints Miga in Yingjiang

The brand new stage of this year’s Granfondo Yunnan in Yingjiang, Dehong featured the incredible ascent of the Col du Daonong, an irregular climb with a very steep middle section, but the result remains more or less the same. Myagmarsuren Basaankhuu and Anne Stegehuis are dominating this year’s edition and proved that again in the 118 km long stage 2. Fellow-Mongolian Erdenebat Bilguunjargal coloured the stage and was basically allowed to take the victory in a sprint against yellow jersey Miga. However, nobody had any issue with that given that Bilguu was in the main 3-man-breakaway of the day and went solo on the aforementioned Col du Daonong, after his companions Chao Jiazhi and Elijus Civilis could not follow his pace anymore. Towards the summit, suddenly China’s Wu Yunfei - first - and Miga - second - came back to Bilguunjargal. The same podium as in The Border Ride, but the two Mongolians changed position with Wu Yunfei taking third, but not losing much time to Miga for the general classification, contrary to Josh Bauer, who said to have had a bit of an off-day.

Anne Stegehuis was solo in the women’s race. AG50 leader Marg Fedyna came an excellent second and Chelsie Tan third.
